Deputies with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 arrested an adult woman Thursday night near the 12200 block of Timber Estate Drive in Spring on suspicion of Injury to the Elderly, a felony charge under Texas law.

Constable Mark Herman's office announced the arrest on X at approximately 11:05 p.m. on Aug. 13, stating the investigation remains ongoing. The office did not release the suspect's name, the victim's identity or condition, or details about the alleged injury.

No formal charges had been filed as of the announcement.

Under Texas Penal Code §22.04, Injury to the Elderly covers victims 65 or older and carries penalties ranging from a state jail felony up to a first-degree felony with sentences of five to 99 years or life, depending on the severity of the injury and the suspect's mental state. The specific degree of felony the suspect may face has not been confirmed without a charging document.

The law also criminalizes failures to act when a person had a legal duty to provide care or had assumed custody or control of an elderly individual.
