Hewlett Packard Enterprise will build the wireless network and run AI-powered operations for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Ireland, the company announced Monday, Oct. 5.

HPE, which moved its global headquarters to Spring's CityPlace development in 2022, returns as a Worldwide Supplier of the biennial golf tournament for the second consecutive event. The contract puts Spring's most prominent corporate campus at the center of a technology deployment expected to reach more than 250,000 on-site fans and 650 million television viewers worldwide.

The tournament marks the Ryder Cup's 100th anniversary and is scheduled for Sept. 17–19, 2027, at Adare Manor in County Limerick.

HPE said in its press release it will deploy what it calls a Self-Driving Network using Wi-Fi 7 across the 230-acre course, grandstands, hospitality venues, media compounds and operations centers. The 2027 event will be the first Ryder Cup to use Wi-Fi 7.

The company will also expand its Connected Intelligence Center, first introduced at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York. The center uses HPE's private cloud AI to pull together data from across the tournament into a single operational view.

Michael Cole, chief technology officer for Ryder Cup Europe, said in the announcement that HPE's work "… will help give our teams the connectivity and intelligence needed to deliver our best ever event at Adare Manor."

Juniper acquisition expands 2027 toolkit

The 2027 deployment will be the first to incorporate technology from Juniper Networks, which HPE acquired for $14 billion. According to an April analysis by Bebeez of HPE's Ryder Cup work, the Juniper integration was not possible for the 2025 event because the acquisition closed after planning was locked in.

At Bethpage Black, HPE deployed 170 network switches, 650 Wi-Fi 6E access points, 25 network sensors and 67 AI-enabled video cameras across roughly 1,500 acres. James Robertson, HPE's vice president and CTO for industry strategy at Aruba, described the 2025 build-out as "one of the largest, if not the largest, temporary networks in the world," according to the April report.

Robertson said at the time that Wi-Fi 7 was "too soon" for the 2025 event. That upgrade arrives in 2027.

Spring headquarters connection

HPE's 440,000-square-foot campus sits at 1701 E. Mossy Oaks Road in Spring, within the CityPlace development at the intersection of I-45 and the Grand Parkway. The company announced its move from California in December 2020 and completed the 60-acre, two-building campus in 2022.

CityPlace is also home to the corporate headquarters of ExxonMobil, ABS Shipping and Southwestern Energy, according to the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce.

HPE's Ryder Cup relationship began at the 2018 tournament in Paris and continued in Rome in 2023. The company expanded to Worldwide Supplier status for the 2025 event at Bethpage Black.

No Spring-based HPE executive was quoted in the Oct. 5 announcement, which was issued from London. Matt Harris, HPE's senior vice president for the UK, Ireland, Middle East and Africa region, called the Ryder Cup "a perfect proving ground" for the company's networking and AI technology in the announcement.

HPE has not announced any local events tied to the contract win.
